First Choice Health Centers Receives $8 Million in Funding

First Choice Health Centers is proud to announce that HRSA (the Health Resources and Service Administration) has funded our Federally Qualified Health Center for an additional three years at more than $2.7 million for the first year and a total of more than $8 million over the funding period.

The award authorized by Section 330 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, as amended (42 U.S.C. 254b)  is a competitive funding opportunity for operational support that ensures continued access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality health care services for communities currently served by First Choice Health Center.

Specifically, these funds allow First Choice Health Centers to offer a sliding fee discount for eligible patients and funds several clinical departments including optometry, podiatry, behavioral health, substance abuse services, obstetrics and gynecology, dental, infectious disease, pediatrics, internal and family medicine.

The Center currently offers care at 13 locations in East Hartford, Manchester and Vernon and is developing two new sites; providing approximately 90,000 visits annually to more than 21,000 patients.  In addition, the Center provides school-based health services to more than 60 schools in six districts.
