Update: Health Center Funding Cliff
On Monday, January 22, Congress passed a short-term spending package to end the government shutdown, keep the government running through February 8th, and provide a six year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Unfortunately, this agreement did not include any funding for community health centers, the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) or the Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program. With just three short weeks before this latest short-term government funding extension expires, we are redoubling our efforts to make sure that resolving the health center funding cliff remains at the top of Congress’s list of policy priorities.
