Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Extended for 10 years!
The Senate and the House ended the 3 day government shutdown yesterday by approving legislation that would keep the government open until Feb. 8, as well as fund the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for the next ten years
The CHIP program provides coverage to an estimated 9 million children in families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford private insurance. 17,000 children are on CHIP (HUSKY B) in CT and many of them are patients at First Choice Health Centers, as well as other Federally Qualified Health Centers in the state. We are grateful that many of our youngest patients will be able to continue to receive quality and affordable healthcare at First Choice.
