Low Vision
Low VisionThe First Choice Health Center Lion’s Low Vision Center is proud to provide skilled training in effective use of optical devices of individuals with visual disabilities and handicaps to increase safety.

The primary goal of our center is to make the life of our Low Vision patients as safe and productive as possible. Low vision occurs when vision is significantly reduced, but has some functionality (as opposed to blindness). Low vision cannot be corrected or improved with glasses, contact lenses or surgery.

Our services are billable through insurance with a sliding fee scale available for self-paying individuals. All optical devices are offered to you free of charge thanks to the generosity of the Lions Club International District 23B.

Before making your Low Vision Center appointment please

1.) Visit your eye care professional and have them complete the Lions Low Vision Order Form (must be within the last month)
2.) Obtain a prescription to dispense optical equipment

During your visit we will review your health history, create goals and make a recommendation for vision aids and devices that are provided at no charge.

Funding for these aids and devices is donated by Lions Club International Districts 23B and other Lions Clubs in Connecticut.

Please call 860- 610-6184 to schedule your appointment.
